Project 365 – Day 22
August 27, 2009
“Lizzie”
Our pets are rather unusual: a couple of lizards. They are very easy subjects to photograph as they typically just sunbathe. I don’t have any circular polarizing filter to eliminate unwanted reflections on the glass of their vivarium, but I did just fine without one. Light aplenty and a model who can hold a pause, what else can I be asking for? A towel was used as the improvised background for this shot. No special photographic setup… just the environment we created for them. Keeping it simple really works.

Wow, I am so glad I found you at PG’s Annoyingly Boring site! Your photographs are incredible.
Love the scales (are they scales?) on Lizzie’s throat. My daughter has a gecko!
Hello Maureen, thank you so much for your kind comment. Pat has a really nice blog too. By the way, I really like what you did with the template of your blog, nice work!
They are scales. Bearded dragons are called that way because they can puff out their throat when they want to be intimidating. The throat actually turns pitch black and it looks like a beard. I’ll try to capture that behavior one day. Geckos are cute
