“A Halloween Tradition”
In the United States, pumpkins are to Halloween what pine trees are to Christmas. You can hardly think of one without the other. We traditionally get one… or a few, just because they are also very good fruits. Quite photogenic fruits at that. This photograph shows the bottom of a pumpkin, macro style. I love the colors, but had an incredibly difficult time getting them right in post. The white balance was totally out of whack, and tweaking it alone didn’t help me reach accurate colors. I had to tinker with a few other parameters, which really makes you appreciate the raw development process. I guess the 5D really got confused with all these warm colors, some of which coming from the ambient light. I used my diffuser to eliminate harsh reflections on the pumpkin, which was quite a pleasant improvement to the final result.

Très belle couleurs, ça aurait même été encore plus raccord dans quelques jours ..
Certes… peut-être aurai-je une photo plus exubérante à montrer ce jour la
This is a nice creative shot Jerome. I thought it was a flower at first glance. The focus is excellent, and the colours look perfect after all the work you put into it!
Thanks Ben. My wife thought of the same thing as she didn’t see me take the shot. I’m glad I had the pumpkin at home as a point of reference for the color accuracy!
