Welcome to my blog!
Bonjour, et bienvenue. I am delighted to introduce you to my blog, a great tool to dynamize my website and engage in a more personal conversation with you. Lately, I’ve had the urge to get back to what really matters to me, what makes me truly happy. Photography and writing being two passions of mine, writing a blog about photography seemed to be the most natural thing to do. Here I am.
Languages. I once saw an interview of Maria de Medeiros by Bernard Pivot, where she discussed how the mechanism of switching from one language to another reaches for different emotions, facets of the individual. I can entirely identify myself in that statement, especially when the use of different languages – French, English and Spanish – has been tied to different periods of my life. While French is the language I cherish, writing this blog in English makes more sense for the time being. I may very well translate it or switch to an entirely different language in the future.
Professionalism. This word can have many different meanings… which can make it difficult to accurately pinpoint who a photographer really is. Nowadays, taking pictures for a living makes you a professional photographer. To some – too many – people, the sole ownership of an expensive camera immediately grants you the status of professional photographer. Does it mean you have talent? Not necessarily. If you do have talent, does it mean you have professional ethics? It doesn’t either. To me, a real professional needs to have talent and ethics first. Business will follow. While I do make money with my photography, I do not have the pretension to be a professional. There is a lot more I want to improve upon talent.
Art. First and foremost, I create photographs because I love it. I put my soul into it and attempt to show life as I see it through my own and unique eyes. What I really want is to develop my artistic sensibility, my vision. Life is a journey of never ending progress, and I will be happy to take you along for the ride.
