A very familiar Manhattan scene, one that felt suspended in time for me to capture. Two tourists who apparently went shopping in the city were now looking for their way back. A special weekend train schedule is affixed to the wall, which at times can even be disconcerting to native new yorkers. For minutes, these two were looking at their subway map. I literally had all the time in the World to take this photograph, a rare occurrence when it usually “all happens in a New York minute”.

Our friend Dave was having his big Four-O birthday party tonight, duly celebrated on the rooftop of his apartment building. Took a few shots that are unfortunately way too private to display. I ended up not taking any other photo today, so what you see here is a crop. You’ll just have to imagine the rest

I was walking in Chelsea when my eye wandered and stopped on this street collage. If you are familiar with the size of a subway map, you will agree that it’s rather large. Else, look at the brick in the top right corner. I really like how it all comes together.

“The Barber Chair”
We hung out with friends around Union Square tonight, and finally got to see “District 9”. Great movie. There was another fifteen minutes until midnight when we left the theater so I took a few more photos along the way to the car. I like that area of the city, it’s young and fun. Like Chinatown, I find it very inspiring, there’s always something going on. Oddly enough, a store had put a motorbike and a barber chair on display, for no apparent reason. Two very atypical subjects to find there together. They however must be meaningful since they were lit so well. I thought it was interesting to record some of the New York oddities that can be found, especially for people who have never been here. Midnight flew by… and I got a shot that I liked a block away from our car. I guess I will be using it for Day 29… stay tuned!
