“The Water Tower”

It’s officially been a month since I started working on Project 365! A great feeling. We spent the day downtown, around Chinatown, Soho… There are always interesting things to see there, including people. Therefore, it is also a perfect location for street photography. In Chinatown, most signs are written exclusively in Chinese. Some streets even have their Chinese names under the English ones; a very exotic place in the heart of Manhattan. I glanced at a Citibank building reflection and had to take the shot. Besides the Chinese characters, you can see a water tower, a strange contraption that almost every building possesses in New York City. I find them extremely photogenic. I actually can’t imagine a rooftop shot without them now. As for the weather, it was great: blue sky and nice clouds, what else do you need?

“The Pizza Shop”

Pizza is a big thing in the United States, with many variations depending on the region. It usually is considered more of a fast food than a fine meal, at least in New York. Therefore, small pizza shops abound, most of them offering free and fast delivery. Maybe that one is not fast anymore… but it certainly has all the staple foods that a typical customers would want to find there: soft drinks, candies… diet heaven. It even has a television on a sports channel, probably the US Open. As for color or black and white, I was torn for a long time. Some elements such as the Pepsi cup were better served in color.
