Project 365 – Day 37

“The Potato: Part Two”
Midnight. No time to back down now, I’ve got to post it. For those of you who are new to my blog, I urge you to read the two posts that led to this shot:
- “The Gnarled Potato” – September 1, 2009
- “The Potato: Part One” – September 8, 2009
There will be more to this series. While I understand that the subject matter can be taboo and shock, I don’t want to purposely go for tasteless photos either. That can actually be a tough one as each individual has a different threshold on what’s acceptable and what’s not. My objective is to invite reflection.
Photographically speaking, it makes me work on angles and composition. If I had to critique myself on this shot, it would be the lighting. I think the raw light works here, but I’m not entirely satisfied with it. Kudos to my wife for modeling… and for falling asleep, which made the shot look even more real. Something to keep in mind: while each photo can have a meaning of its own, they are first and foremost part of a series with a storyline. Therefore, they are linked in a sequential order. Stay tuned for the next one!
