“Fishermen At The Rye Lake”
It was a beautiful day to spend outdoors. I was recommended the Kensico Dam Plaza so we went and checked it out. It’s a nice little park facing the dam, where Jasmine had tons of fun. The dam itself is pretty small and I thought I could take some photos of the reservoir behind it. Unfortunately, all access was prohibited. I talked to the Park Ranger who told me that restriction came into place after 9/11.
Never mind the dam, I still wanted a peak at the Kensico lake. We drove North along its side until we found an area to stop. The Rye Bridge offered a good view of the two lakes it separates: Kensico’s and Rye’s. With a duly permit you can fish there, as you can see in this photo of the Rye lake. I had to be patient to get the shot. At first, a crew from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) came to inspect the shores aboard their motor boat, which created some big unsightly waves. I’m not sure what they were expecting to find but they were sporting binoculars. Then, I had to wait for the sun to peak through the clouds and illuminate the side I was interested in. The light was literally changing from second to second. Finally, I got my window of opportunity. Click!
