“Energy Inefficient”
Air conditioners… those ugly electricity guzzling machines. While many New Yorkers don’t have a washing machine, not having an air conditioner is unthinkable. And for good reason: summers are pretty bad in New York City. It’s not so much the heat, but the humidity level. When I spend the summer here, it definitely ranks as my least favorite season.
Finding a compelling subject within the confine of one’s home is proving to be challenging. While most objects in our apartment are very familiar to me, I also got used to see them in a certain way. It can take time to view them under a different light, a necessary exercise I am coming to enjoy. We have three air conditioners, amongst them this old relic left by the previous tenant. Since it does its job well, we kept it. My daily scan of the apartment led me to it, where I had a small eureka moment as far as the framing went. Nothing outrageously original here, but I thought it was interesting enough to be featured as photo of the day.
