Project 365 – Day 99

“Shopping Carts”
This is the view you get when you’re about to enter Costco: an army of shopping carts. You are also greeted with an American flag, such an omnipresent mark of patriotism in this country that I couldn’t say for sure whether the one on display had always been there, or served as a commemoration of the November 11th armistice. What I liked in this shot is how its red and blue colors matched the carts.
What I didn’t like is having to deal with mixed lighting. If you look at the ceiling, you can tell that the bulbs are outputting different color temperatures: the green and magenta casts give it away. Not all bulbs are created equal, which can quickly mess up a camera’s white balance. There was no way for me to make it consistent across the scene, I just had to deal with it. A good example of probably the number one headache for photographers.
